Lakeside Foods is recognized as the premier U.S. Private Brand supplier of high quality frozen vegetables and canned vegetables to retail, foodservice, and industrial sectors for over 130 years.  With corporate headquarters in Manitowoc, WI, ten plants and six distribution centers in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Ohio, our locations place us close to our fields, assuring the freshest product available to our customers. 

 

How did this begin? In 1887, Albert Landreth recognized that Wisconsin soil could produce superior quality peas. He began operating out of a small hotel on the shores of Lake Michigan in Manitowoc – the humble founding of Lakeside Foods. Soon the one-kitchen operation grew into Wisconsin’s first canning plant.  A partnership with the University of Wisconsin’s College of Agriculture led to advancements in quality control that lead the industry, establishing Lakeside’s reputation as a leader in innovation.

 

Lakeside has stringent food quality standards, which exceed levels of the USDA, and can pack the specifications required in a specific market with regards to formulations or packaging. All Lakeside Foods facilities are certified SQF Level 3 - the highest level of food safety available, with traceability of our products.  Our extensive line of traceability documents the type of seed planted, when it was planted, location of the field, date and types of pesticide treatment, harvest date, and when the product was packaged.
