Savannah Food Company has been in the food processing business since 1970 when Bob Hagy started making hushpuppies after decades in the restaurant business. The Catfish Hotel Restaurant, still in business today, became so well known for its freshly made hushpuppies Mr. Hagy built a processing facility to produce the same products his family had made for generations. In 2004, Savannah Food Company was purchased by John Bryan. John's family has been in the food business since the early 1900s when they founded Bryan Foods, Inc., now owned by Sara Lee.

Today, Savannah Food Company still produces the same recipe hushpuppies Mr. Hagy did when he started the business. We have added a number of new products such as cornbread dressing and vegetable casseroles. In 1999, we opened a new 98,000 square foot processing facility designed for greater efficiency and the highest level of food safety, while maintaining the same level of personal attention our products deserve. Our standard remains today to provide the most flavorful, consistent products possible. We are proud of our accomplishments of the past, but more importantly we are optimistic about the future of our growing business.
